Hey everyone! It’s only been a month or so since the last update, but it feels like way more time has passed. We here at Team Treats have been busy as all get out, and we’re happy to report that there’s so much exciting news to share with you all. Without further ado, let’s get to it! 

This is the second devlog in a row where one of the main attractions is voice acting. That’s for good reason, though… We can finally round up most of our casting announcements in one place. Enjoy an additional sneak peek into our lovely cast and winning auditions!

Keeping with the theme of exciting announcements, at the time of this devlog’s release the demo script for Tender Lovin’ Cannibal is complete! From beginning to end, every word of each interaction has been fully planned out; meat, bones, skin and all. The only thing left is to put it into the programming. We have to make it move, make it talk! All the good stuff that video games are supposed to do!

Here's a glimpse at some of the "heroes" of our story. They're not so much "heroes" the crew of hooligans who work retail jobs at The Candy Club and Boys n' Grills, but they're trying their best!

From left to right, here are the names of these folks:

Bob Velseb - The big man you know and (probably) love. An affable fry cook and avid fan of all things butchery. There's something off about him, though... we can't quite put our finger on it.

Y/N - That's YOU! The player! Look at your adorable face and snazzy fashion sense! You're so damn cool!

Kelsey - A temp worker at The Candy Club who works alongside Kevin. Cripplingly anxious but sickeningly sweet, this poor woman NEVER catches a break. And we mean never!

Amelia - The tall, dark and mysterious woman who opens and closes Boys n' Grills. Despite her elegant demeanor, she does a lot of the dirty work... cleaning grease traps, mopping floors, and taking out the trash.  

Bob "Becky" Beckett - Lovingly referred to as "a soggy owl" and "Bob Velseb at home", Bobby B. is a soft-spoken bloke who's just trying to get by. He is everything that Bob Velseb isn't; thin, frail, the world's worst cook and the world's best math whiz. He mans the registers and takes orders, but never let him into the kitchen. EVER!!!!!

Entity - Nobody really knows how they got here, or where he came from. What everyone does know is that they're the coolest cat in town, always down to chill and cause trouble for the local cops. He never takes himself– or anyone else, now that we think about it– seriously. Commonly seen at the register or in the kitchen, doing goodness knows what!

Vevina - Speaking of people who never take themselves seriously... who let this jokester in?! This lovable lass always looks like she just escaped some kid's birthday party, and for good reason. She's constantly clowning around, despite her lack of license for such comical mischief. We've tried asking her how she lost it, but she just cartwheels away.

I’m absolutely chuffed to bring you the news that we’ve officially surpassed 1k lines of code.

Naturally, that’s not even half of the demo. There’s many more scenes to be implemented properly, but we’re well on our way! Here’s to many more thousands to come! 

In related news, we’ve successfully performed our first fully-fledged lag test. One of the lead devs, Ivo, has God’s weakest soldier for a laptop… but despite all odds the game ran perfectly, and was even smoothly stream-able. All you folks who surf the web on your junk-o-trons and toaster ovens will be able to play this thing just fine. 

Still no Samsung Fridge port though. 

If any of you have experience designing GUIs/User Interfaces for VNs (Ren’Py VNs in particular) and would be down to help with ours, feel free to reach out.
